Description

The year is 2347. Humanity has stretched its tendrils across the cosmos, claiming dominion over star systems unimaginable even a century ago. We've conquered physics, mastered gravity manipulation, and even dipped our toes into the forbidden waters of temporal mechanics. Yet, for all our advancement, the universe remains a cold, uncaring void, teeming with secrets and dangers beyond our comprehension. You are a Salvage Runner, a denizen of the fringes, scraping a living from the debris fields of forgotten wars and the husks of derelict starships. You pilot the 'Stardust Drifter,' a ship cobbled together from salvaged parts and fueled by sheer audacity. It's ugly, it's unreliable, and it's your only ticket to survival. The Galactic Consortium, that bloated bureaucracy of self-proclaimed rulers, cares little for the likes of you. They're too busy squabbling over resources and suppressing whispers of ancient horrors that lurk in the uncharted sectors. But they *do* need salvage. They *do* need someone brave (or desperate) enough to venture into the most dangerous corners of the galaxy. Your comm crackles to life, a gruff voice cutting through the static. It's your contact, 'Whisper,' a shadowy figure operating from the clandestine network known as the Scavengers' Guild. "Runner," Whisper's voice rasps, "I've got a lead. An old one. Reports of a pre-Consortium vessel, the 'Aetherium,' drifting near the Xylos Nebula. Supposedly, it vanished centuries ago, rumored to be carrying a prototype drive that could revolutionize interstellar travel. Consortium wants it hushed up, naturally." He pauses, a distinct note of caution in his tone. "The nebula… it's volatile. Filled with spatial anomalies and whispers of… other things. Things that shouldn't be. The Aetherium likely went down for a reason. But the reward… it's worth the risk. Are you in?" Your fate, your fortune, and possibly your sanity hang in the balance. The Stardust Drifter hums with anticipation, its engines eager to devour the starlight. The Xylos Nebula awaits. What will you do?
